USCG Aux. Navigation Course - Zoom-based, Interactive - Nine-weeks
The NINE WEEK - ZOOM-BASED "Weekend Navigator" course is taught by Capt. Linda Lewis (USCG 100-Ton Master), who is a USCG Auxiliary member and volunteer instructor. The class size is limited to keep it interactive.

Seattle Boat Show - "Docking: How to Maneuver Your Twin Engine Boat" - 50 min free seminar
You know you can steer your twin-engine boat using just your gears. Right? But how do you do it? How do you ‘split-the-gears’ and get that turn-in-your-own-footprint going? We’ll role play some helming actions to get your muscle memory involved. Docking is the skill I teach the most often in my on-the-water power boat instruction.

Seattle Boat Show - "Overboard From a Power Boat! Getting Them Back Into the Boat is the Hardest Part" - 50 min free seminar
Although the Lifesling was designed for sailboats, it can work well on a power boat with some inventive rigging. Finding a person who has gone overboard and bringing them back to the side of your boat may be the easy part. However, getting someone up into a power boat is the real challenge. You need to plan ahead to rig your hoisting gear. You will see lots of scenarios/photos for suggested rigging approaches.

Cruisers College at Anacortes - "Overboard Recovery on a Power Boat: How to Get the Person Into the Boat - Using a Lifesling"
The Lifesling was developed for sailboats, but with some inventive rigging it is also extremely useful on power boats. The biggest challenges are finding a good location for the Lifesling and, most importantly, figuring out how to rig the 5:1 Block and Tackle connection-point that is high enough and strong enough. The classroom portion includes a video, photos of rigging scenarios, and how to. The lab portion is where YOU will actually practice lifting someone from the floor and into a mock-boat.
